LuWayne is relatively shy, put him behind decks or in front of a mic and watch him morph into what many refer to as “WonderBoy”. Never afraid to push boundaries when it comes to sound. His controversial musical selections and skills have wowed crowds locally and abroad. Music is definitely his first love and therapy.
LuWayne is no stranger to the ups-and-downs of the entertainment and DJ industry. “You are only as good as your last set” as he likes to put it. Though he loves playing in nightclubs and huge crowds at prestigious events, his love for music goes beyond the spectrum of mixing tunes. As a DJ, entrepreneur and radio host of his own radio show, Wonder Nites on Good Hope FM, he has found plenty of ways to express himself musically.
What sets him apart from others in the industry is that I consider myself a turntablist. Though I proudly consider myself a DJ and accept the term in all forms. I mean you don't hear people say "Hey Turntablist LuWayne Wonder". A DJ however plays a set of songs, mixing them together for live performance or recording. Being a turntablist means that I use scratching and manipulation of sounds and samples heavily to create a short composition that is as much an original creation as the sounds and beats that the composition is based on. What further makes me different that I not only wow crowds with my sound, but I am an MC and live radio host as well.
